I've wanted to make my own fanmade Pokemon game for a long time, and now that I have the resources to make the game, I kinda realized... I need to learn the program and stuff. So, I decided I would make a quick and basic game to learn the basics and get to know the software I'm using. So... then an idea came to me.
What if... the characters are my OCs? I had already decided I wanted to make myself the Champion of the game(If you've never played a Pokemon game, that's the final boss.), however it didn't come to me until later when I was working on designing this AU version of my sona that I could use my already existing OCs as the characters! That saves a lot of the character designing aspect as all I have to do is redesign them to fit their roles.
The player character will be completely original though, and I'm going make new characters for the rival(s) and evil team. (And just pretty much every character who isn't a gym leader/elite four/champion)
For a quick rundown of the basic gameplay of Pokemon games for the people who have never played a Pokemon game:
The main metric of progression is gyms. They're essentially mini bosses and in most games, restrict your progress to some degree. Once you defeat all 8 gyms, you move onto the Pokemon League where you have 5 back-to-back battles with the Elite Four and Champion. Defeating the Champion is the end game goal.
I started actually working on the game during this summer. For a good week or so I was very focused on making the bare bones of the game.
So far, as I'm writing this, I've finished making up to the 4th gym. I planned to have added the 8th gym by October, but I never actually worked on it... That'll get done eventually.
I don't quite have anything else to add, so, I'll just end this off by mentioning I have a page on this website for specifically this project! I will be updating that soon to add some information!
